Mayo Clinic: Trip 2, Day 1

Mayo Clinic: Trip 2, Day 1

Today at 9:23pm Edit Note Delete
Greetings from Rochester...We started the day @ 7:30 with some lung testing. Then we visited with the doctor who specializes in sleep apnea, just to have a short exam and confirm the sleep study, which dad is doing right now. We then went in the afternoon for more lung testing, and a follow up visit with our main doctor. He told my dad that he again "flunked" his pulmonary tests - matter of fact, his numbers were worse than they were the first time we were here, despite the intensive treatments he has been doing for the past 6 weeks. So, now, tomorrow we have to go for a CT scan in the morning, and then wait to be seen by an ear, nose, and throat specialist. Dr. Lim told us that they will probably give him a high dose steroid injection, and want to see him again in 4 weeks. If at that time he has not improved, we will be looking at another sinus surgery. Dr. Lim stated that the infection in the sinuses is so severe that medications aren't penetrating to do their job. He also increased his asthma inhaler, and declared one of his diagnoses as "steroid-dependent asthmatic". So, that's where we stand for now. We are still very impressed with Mayo Clinic and Dr. Lim and feel he is doing everything possible to get Dad better. Thanks to everyone who is keeping us in your thoughts and prayers! I will post another update tomorrow once we talk with our next doctor.

Blah...

...is the word for the day so far. We are in Rochester, MN again for Dad's follow up visit @ Mayo Clinic. I wish I could visit Rochester on a day when the sun was shining because this gloominess is leaving a bad taste in my mouth! We are spending a lot of time on the 18th floor of the Gonda building, and it has this nice, big section of glass windows to look out...and both times we have been here it has been too foggy to hardly see anything more than 1/2 mile away! Well, at least they have these computers so I can blog, check my email and Facebook :). I don't think the weather is any better at home, either, so at least that's a plus.

Well, for those of you wondering, I STILL don't have my paper back...I would be REALLY nervous about this fact except that no one else has their paper back either. WHAT IS THE HOLD UP, PEOPLE??!!! Yargh...it will probably arrive today and I will be tangled up in knots until I get home tomorrow night to read it. Yep, that would be my luck!

By the way, picture me if you will...I am sitting at a computer that is at a lowered-down section...I think maybe it is intended for kids because I am sitting in a little wood chair that has a cutout of a dragonfly in the back. Too bad the Nikon is in the van!!!

I will be updating information about my dad when I get it - thanks for those who have asked!

Pins and needles...

Okay, no photos, just a little ranting from me...So, as many of you know, I am in the final push to get my Master's degree in Special Education. I turned in my 40-page project last Friday, and thought I would feel so relieved...well, I was wrong. Now, I'm sitting here on pins and needles wondering: When the heck are they gonna get my paper back to me? Did they like it? Is it good enough? Will I get to graduate? C'mon, people, let's just get this over with already!!! The saving grace to my sanity is this: one month from today is graduation, so it will HAVE to be over with by then!!! So, here's hoping to find a paper in the mail sooner than later...

2 of my favorite gals...

My sis-in-law and niece...love 'em to pieces!!! And to top it off they are lovely in front of a camera!!!

Cousins

My niece, KK, and her cousin Bre. They are thicker than thieves and just too cute! I had a lot of fun with them and look forward to them being my models again soon!

Honeyman Family

Penny Carnival

With his treat bag & popcorn...
Tossing some fish...

Getting his face painted by A SORORITY GIRL....yikes....

Me & my man :)

J's school had a penny carnival on a Friday night....since Si was asleep, we decided it would be best for J & I just to make a date of it. It went pretty quick, but we enjoyed it!

My girls!

A few families went out for some pizza & fun last week...and these are my girls! We had an awesome time and not even a drop of alcohol involved!

Flippin'

Here is my niece, KK, doing some flips. Enjoy!

Snow Day in March

Well, you know you live in the Midwest when one day it is in the 60's and three days later you have snow! It was fun for a couple of hours, and then of course it was muddy, messy, and just generally YUCK. Spring, please come to stay!

Baby Emily

Here is Baby Emily...born premature, she was only 1 month old here and still only a little over 6 lbs.! Unfortunately (at this age) she didn't like being naked...but that's okay 'cause she's still ADORABLE!!!

Boys @ the park

We had some extra time on our hands one Saturday, and wound up spending some time at the park in Monmouth. The boys love it there!

Unfortunately, Simon likes to run from the camera right now....

This shot was taken by Adam - but he only gets 50% of the credit since I set it up and told him where to stand and push the shutter!

Blog neglect :(

So, for those of you who still follow my blog, I am SINCERELY apologetic for not keeping it updated more faithfully. Honestly, I am mostly on Facebook now (hint: if you aren't there, maybe you should be...)BUT...if you are like my husband and are anti-FB, then I will try better to keep the blog updated. So, my next few posts will be of recent photo sessions, and a few of my own kiddos too! Again, sorry to you all, and I will try harder to put stuff here, too. (I also have been just a *tad* busy lately, but enough excuses...)
